When a PDF can—and cannot—fit 200 KB

Updated 9 October 2026 · EasyPsyTools

Set the size the portal asks for

Open the PDF compressor and enter 200 with KB selected. The target is an upper limit, not a promise that every document can fit it. Check the actual output size before uploading; an unchanged document may already meet the limit.

Try the two-page example

In More options, select Try an example. This synthetic PDF has two pages of selectable text and is already below 200 KB. Compress it and inspect the result: the target check should pass, the page count should remain two and the text comparison should match. It is a check of the workflow, not evidence of a dramatic compression ratio.

Why some PDFs shrink less

Text-based PDFs are often compact already. Scanned pages are pictures, and their size depends on resolution, colour and visual complexity. Reducing image quality can save space but blur small text, stamps and fine lines. A large scan may need a larger permitted limit to remain readable.

Choose what must survive

Leave conversion of text pages to images off when you need selectable text. That optional mode removes text selection, links and annotations. Pages to keep sharper can protect important pages during stronger compression. Always keep your original file separately.

Read the checks and compare the pages

A matching text check and retained page count provide useful checks, but do not establish scan legibility. Barcode checks are limited to the first three pages. If a previously decoded barcode fails the comparison, downloading the output is blocked. Increase the limit and try again, then visually inspect the complete document.
